ODAMI is a design studio offering architectural, interior, and furniture design services, while actively maintaining an experimental artistic practice. The studio was founded in 2017 by Spanish architect Aránzazu González Bernardo and Canadian designer Michael Norman Fohring.
Our work humbly grounds itself in the world of real things rather than in a grand abstract discourse. We're not about one thing or one style, and we're not alone in the process. For us, it's only through letting go of preconceived agendas and embracing the project’s constraints and quirks that it can transcend trendiness. And only through this can it acquire its own strength and presence, and a sense of timelessness and place.
In our practice this plays out in both traditional and speculative formats which constantly inform and enrich each other; on one hand, we work closely with clients and craftsmen to achieve a high level of built quality and livability in our architectural work; and on the other, we enjoy the freedom to experiment with conventions and construction methods in our artistic endeavours. Through these modes of working, we seek to elevate matter into sensuous spaces and objects, recognizing and contributing to the beauty of everyday life.
